If you want to lose weight and keep it off, become healthier, and live a more fulfilled life, this program will change your life. Impact Physio is excited to announce that we will be offering Health Coaching to those interested in optimizing their health. Health Coaching is an excellent approach to take towards a healthier and more fulfilled life.  We will work with each client one on one to get them physically and mentally healthier. The first step is reaching a healthy weight. From there, I can tailor your program for what works with you. For example, if you’d like to start an exercise program, I will make a program for you that fits your liking.

Growing up, I was always an active kid. To this day, I’m very active. I enjoy golfing, bike riding, playing basketball and softball, and going on hikes. When the weather isn’t cooperating and I can’t enjoy warm weather outside, I get to the gym at least 3 days a week. Where I have certainly been deficient in my overall health has been my eating habits and nutrition. I have a mean sweet tooth and used to think as long as I remained active, I could eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I needed a change, so why not help others develop a healthier lifestyle in the process.  

As of now, I am working with and learning from a certified health coach of more than 10 years.  Mark Blankespoor is a physical therapist turned full time health coach when his clientele started to sky rocket.  We plan to put together workshop events for anyone interested in Impact Physio’s Health Coaching Program. As I am just starting out, Mark will also be available to answer any questions or concerns you might have about the program. Mark has been working as a Health Coach with OPTAVIA for more than 10 years.  OPTAVIA is a company that aims to help clients begin a journey towards lifelong optimal health and wellness.

As your Health Coach, I will start by setting you up with the most appropriate food program based on your needs and preferences. We will set a goal (weight loss, improved health and wellness, both, etc.) and provide you with all the resources available in order to achieve that success. OPTAVIA offers three different monthly food programs based on the client’s preference - all of which encourage six meals a day. Each food program has more than 60 options for meals and fuelings.  OPTAVIA fuelings are nutritious snacks such as bars, shakes, smoothies, popcorn, and cereal. The beauty of these fuelings is that they are already packaged and ready to go. If you have a busy day with limited time to plan your meals, you can simply grab a couple fuelings on your way to work.  

The Optimal Weight 5&1 Plan is great for a beginner client who wants to lose a significant amount of weight. On the Optimal Weight 5&1 Plan, your body enters a gentle but efficient fat burning state while maintaining and retaining lean muscle mass. Five of your meals will be OPTAVIA Fuelings. The Optimal Weight 4&2&1 Plan is perfect for you if you want to continue eating all food groups or want a flexible meal plan to help you achieve a healthy weight. Four of your meals are OPTAVIA Fuelings. The other two meals will be of your choosing.  Finally, the Optimal Health 3&3 Plan is great for clients that have reached an optimal weight and are looking for a way to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Three of your meals are OPTAVIA Fuelings.  This meal program progression is an excellent way to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. This is what separates OPTAVIA from the competition. Along with a meal program, the health coach educates each client on long term habits of health and healthy eating. It’s nice because to begin with, you rely mostly on OPTAVIA’s scientifically proven fuelings to obtain a balanced diet. As you progress and learn more about proper nutrition, you’ll have the ability and creativity to create your own lean and green meals.

OPTAVIA breaks down their program into six steps to optimal health:

  • Step one: Prepare for your journey
  • Step two: Achieve a healthy weight
  • Step three: Transition to healthy eating
  • Step four: Live the habits of health
  • Step five: Optimize health of your age
  • Step six: The potential to live a longer, healthier life

When you’ve reached an healthy weight, have transitioned to healthy eating, and are consistent with optimal health, I will teach you small habits of health that will take your transformation to the next level.  These small tips for a healthier lifestyle will eventually start adding up to HUGE wins for your health. One small tip I’ve recently adopted and find the most helpful is the mantra STOP, CHALLENGE, CHOOSE. I’ve used it for late night cravings but this can be applied to just about anything essential to your well being.  EXAMPLE: It’s 10:30 PM and you’re sitting on the couch watching a movie. You mindlessly walk into the kitchen and reach for a bag of chips.  STOP. Take a deep breath. Think about what you’re doing. CHALLENGE. Are you really hungry or just bored/emotional? Do you really want those chips? Will having the chips be beneficial to your health in the long run? If you can honestly say you feel the need to eat the chips, then go for it. But more likely than not, you’ll CHOOSE to step away from the chips and grab a glass of water or a healthier snack option. This mantra has helped improve my health, my mind, and my relationships.

Healthy eating is tough. One week you’ll hear something is good for you and the next week it’s not anymore. Nutrition is always developing and it can be difficult to keep up with.  That’s where our health coaching program will come into play. We will set you up with the necessary resources you will need achieve your goal. Whether your goal is to lose weight and become healthy, maintain your current weight and eat healthier, or both, this program will help you live a more fulfilled life.

Consistency is the key to optimal health. Think about it, when you’re consistent with anything in life, it becomes so much easier to stick with it and turn it into a habit.  If you want to be consistent with your gym schedule of 3 days a week, you’re more likely to hit that goal week after week when you’re consistent with it. If you want to be consistent with your eating schedule of 6 small meals a day, stick with it until it becomes a habit. CONSISTENCY is key.
